Frag For Cancer 2017 Cosplay Code of Conduct

Attendees must respect commonsense rules for public behavior, personal interaction, common courtesy, and respect for private property. Remember, Cosplay is not Consent harassing or offensive behavior will not be tolerated.

Frag For Cancer reserves the right to revoke, without refund, the membership and badge of any attendee not in compliance with this policy. Persons finding themselves in a situation where they feel their safety is at risk or who become aware of an attendee not in compliance with this policy should immediately locate the nearest member of security, or staff member, so that the matter can be handled in an expeditious manner.

The Frag for Cancer Help Desk & Registration are is located in main entrance. During show hours you can always find a Frag For Cancer staff member or security guard at the Help Desk. Please stop by there if you have any questions or concerns.

Costume Props Policy

No functional props or weapons are allowed at Frag for Cancer.

Simulated or costume weapons are allowed as a part of your costume, subject to prior approval by security and compliance with the following:

• All costume props and weapons must be inspected at the Cosplay Desk, located at registration area.
• All costume props and weapons must conform to provincial and federal law.
• Projectile costume props and weapons must be rendered inoperable.
• Functional arrows must have their tips removed and be bundled and zip-tied to a quiver.
• All weapons must be made of soft material and have a foam core. No metal or wood.
• Prop firearms must have an orange tip for security reasons.
• Costumes featuring stilts must be approved at the Costume Props Desk.
• At certain times, due to crowds and safety issues, people in over sized costumes may be asked to relocated.
• After your costume props have been checked, they will be tagged by security, and you will be given a wristband or badge to wear to designate that your props have been checked.
• Security will escort you to the Costume Props Desk for inspection if your costume prop is not tagged.

If you do not want to have your costume props inspected or tagged, or if you are not willing to comply with these policies, please do not bring your costume props to Frag for Cancer. All costume props and weapons must be inspected at the Registration and Cosplay Desk.

Badges/Wristbands
Must be displayed at all times, these are non-transferable, not replaceable, and no refunds will be issued if lost.

Costumes
Costumes deemed to be offensive or inappropriate may result in expulsion from the event. If your costume or props are very large in size, please be aware of your surroundings. If you unsure if your costume is appropriate please email Cosplay@fragforcancer.ca

Photography
We ask all attendees to be considerate and respectful of your environment, and of the other attendees. If you are photographing/filming costumes—ensure you get permission from that individual before taking their image. It is inappropriate to take high or low angle shots, place your hands on a person or request sexual poses without prior consent.

Sign-up for the Costume Contest will be located behind the registration area located near the Grawood Lounge and will be open from
Friday October 27th 2017: 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm for early Pre-Judging
Saturday October 28th 2017: 8:00 am to 3:00 pm

Pre-Judging is required for Gold and Platinum Categories. It is encouraged that you bring reference photos and one or two build photos. Pre-Judging will occur at the times above. You will be given a time to be pre-judged, please do not be late as you may not be judged properly.

The Main Organizer of Frag For cancer reserves the right to eliminate anyone from competition on the basis of taste, danger to the audience/other contestants or for any other reason deemed sufficient.

Weapons that are deemed unfit for Frag for Cancer, if required for the costume contest, must be kept with security at all times before and after you are on stage. Weapon confiscation at any time during Frag for Cancer revokes your ability to use it in the costume contest please refer to Costume Props Policy for details. This does not apply to live firearms or any weapon with projectiles which will never be permitted.

No nudity. Uncovered male or female genitalia is just as unacceptable during the costume contest as it is at any other time and will result in removal from the event. Dance Belts and Pasties are encouraged but ultimately up to staff discretion.

Shoes must be worn at all times. Shoes on stage maybe removed on a case by case basis.

If you are planning to do anything other than walk on and off you must tell the Cosplay Staff in advance via your registration form. No alterations to your application or personal requirements other than dropping out of the contest will be permitted once a contestant has registered.

There will be no use of the microphone and you will not be able to play any music or video – Although Music will be provided that will be appropriate to the event.

All winners will be notified on stage after the Cosplay Contest has ended.

Cosplay Categories

Judges will give prizes and awards based on which category you enter, please read each category and decide which is best for you.

Level 1 – Bronze

This category is for those who have bought their costumes either from a Seller such as eBay or local store(s) or had their costume commissioned and made by someone else.

Level 2 – Silver

This category is for those who have made their costume but do not consider themselves to be “pro”. No previous contest or cosplay experience is required. This category also includes “bought/thrifted” and then altered costumes. Wigs and Shoes do not count as bought towards this category.

Level 3 – Gold

This category is for those who have completely made their costumes and have previous contest and cosplay experience. However, it is not mandatory for this category. A reference photo for pre-judging is encouraged.

Level 4 – Platinum

This category is for those who have completely made their costumes and have previous contest and cosplay experience. However, it is not mandatory for this category. A reference photo for pre-judging is encouraged. If you want to go on stage with the best, this is the category for you.

Judges reserve the right to promote or demote contestants to a more appropriate category as they deem necessary.

Frag for Cancer Grawood Bar Halloween Party
Saturday October 28th
Location: Dalhousie Student Union Grawood Bar
6136 University Ave, Halifax, Nova Scotia

The Frag for Cancer After Party will be held at the same Dalhousie newly renovated Student Union Bar (Grawood) and will go from 7:00 pm to 1:00 am tickets will be available for purchase at the door.

This is a private event and as such adheres to some additional rules upon entry to ensure the safety of attendees and staff.

• Shoes must be worn at all times.
• Props and Weapons will not be allowed into the venue, even if they were checked by Frag for Cancer Staff. Your props are your responsibility and we advise you to leave them either at home or in a safe place.
• Frag for Cancer is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
• Harassment or Offensive Behavior will not be tolerated and could result in your removal from the event without refund.
• Drink responsibly and have fun.
